The custom wedding invitation process
What is it like to work with us on your invitations?
The process of working with Design des Troy on your wedding stationery suite is a bit different than with a traditional stationer. We work with you to design a bespoke stationery experience — from invitations to seating cards — that reflects your wedding day and, ideally your personality.
If it is convenient and you are local to the San Francisco Bay Area, we love to meet with our potential wedding couples to hear more about the wedding you are planning and learn more about what pieces you’ll need designed. It gives us an opportunity to get to know you a little and also to show you some of our past work in person and discuss printing options. These days, we are having our meetings over zoom and will happily mail paper/print samples as needed.
Bespoke Design
We will work with you to create the invitation suite of your dreams — the sky’s the limit. Our standard invitation suite includes the invitation, information card/map, reply card, and thank you cards, but pieces can be added (or removed) as needed.
Signature Designs
If there is a design from our portfolio that you are drawn to, we can reimagine and customize that design for your wedding. We can change fonts and colors for you or even add custom illustrations. Assuming the final design doesn’t deviate too far from the original, this can be a much more economical option.
Printing Options
We print using a variety of methods, including digital, offset, letterpress, and foil. Some of our designs combine multiple printing processes within the same piece! We are experts in printing and will make recommendations as to which method will work best for your design and budget.

Owen and Samantha of Design des Troy created my dream wedding invitation. I’m a printer who married an antique postcard and ephemera show promoter. A professional graphic layout and beautiful artwork was very important to both of us. Design des Troy asked the right questions and took the time to know us in order to come up with an invite that was personal and meaningful. The lettering and background had a vintage style that we loved. We even printed extra invites to distribute as a collectible at our ephemera shows. The wedding invitation they designed is my favorite memento of our wedding day.
